Lets not bash on what he should have and should'nt have got...All i know is ive gone through the same excitement of going from some old school peice of crap to a nice new powerful rig...and that rig is nothing to laugh at.

Bit of bad news there though..i7 is already being discontinued..i5 is future proof..but that i7 should last you alteast 3 years if not alot more.

Man, what an upgrade!

I understand why you wanted to go i7, but like many have said you could have gotten more for your money. i7 is not budget by any means, so you spent a ton of cash on just the motherboard and CPU. You could have went AM3 & Phenom II and still been able to have an upgrade path for a few years to come. That way you could have gotten a better monitor and video card.

But anyway, not trying to bash on you... setup is going to be great and you are going to be amazed at the difference. Also, that 4850 will power that 17" monitor great. Probably be able to play most anything with really good frame rates.

For gaming 12GB will be a waste of money, 6GB is fine. Also no CPU cooler? If you are planning to overclock you are going to need one.

I'm also going from some crap PC to i7.
Currently have a p4 @1.8 1GB of RAM & an ATI 9550

Thanks - Yeah, that's an amazing upgrade.

However they sent me an email to make me call them to verify the order things for the order to get preocessed, but on the web the 'order processed' button is checked so i guess it's ok.

Can't wait to receive it. There's 3 boxes full of stuff

Edit: I will just run the 920 @ 3.2 w/ 6400 mt/s jsut like the stock extreme edition which has the same stock cooler.

I'll buy a TRUE later
