If you're spending that much on a processor + board + ram that is a very very very poor decision. You're building into a dead socket with little or no upgrade path. Either wait for i5 to come out or go i7 as it won't be much more if you get a mid-lower level board. You probably don't want to go AMD because you're posting in an Intel forum but I would go with the AMD 955 BE myself. But really don't build a 775 build when you already have one and i5 is right around the corner. Make the smart choice!
edit:

Go core i7 the 775 like the guy who posted right before me said the 775 are dieing and they have no upgrade path. Dont go i5 though those things are goingo t fail harder then hard. Go i7. WAY WAY MORE WORTH. Im a matter of fact getting a i7 rig in about a month with SLI

that is extremely missleading! look the 955 is at 3.2GHZ and the 920 is at 2.66. if the 920 was OC'ed to 3.2 it would MURDER the 955.

nvm the 965 extreme is at 3.2 and it still loosing by "1FPS"

i7 is so expensive though

The X58 chipset supports SLI and Crossfire right ?
Maybe if I kept my GTX 260 for now , so I can SLI it later , I can use the money I save there on i7.

GOD YOU PEOPLE ARE HERE JUST TO MAKE ME SPEND TONS OF MONEY ARENT YOU!!!
Haahhahaa.

So if I didn't spend money on the card , I'd have about 800 or so to spend on board, cpu , ram , and heatsink.

Just remember , reliability is key.
I don't want this thing to die.

Try and find the best combo for me
MAKE SURE PRICE IS IN CAD.

AMD's flagship cpu is cheaper than the lowliest i7 ( ), and overclocks like a beast

Don't fanboy too much, they also don't show any OC's on the 955 so you have to take that into consideration too. Also depending on the application the i7 may do better due to hyperthreading but if he is going for gaming and more general usage, AMD is more viable but a If I had a limitless wallet, you would see me with an i7 D0

There. You can change CPU coolers or motherboards to one of the Gigabyte, DFI, or Asus or whatever you would want and still have a few bucks left over (This is from newegg.ca)

ohh yeah to 3.8 4.0 is definitly BEAST overclocking. the Core i7 920 can do 4.0 or higher when the stock is at 2.66. Thats BEAST overclocking right there
