Some of you may know about my medical problems in the past and I have sold my entire computer here on OCN. Well the tides have turned and I saved up some money and my budget had to be $500 or under.

This is what I have so far, will update with pictures once the items arrive.

CPU - A used E2140 from a member here on OCN
GPU - A PowerColor AX4870 512MB card from newegg for $125
MOBO - A Gigabyte GA-G31E2SL from newegg for $50
HDD - A WD 640GB AALS drive from newegg $75
CASE - An Antec Mini P180 black from newegg for $80
RAM - A 4GB set of Crucial Ballistix from newegg for $40
COOLER - A xigmatek HDT-964 from newegg for $20
PSU - An antec earthwatts EA380W from newegg for $15 as part of a newegg combo deal with the case


That got me to $405 and then with shipping right around $430, I will be sure to take lots of pics of this build, comments are highly welcomed!!!

Looks like a really good build for $500! There is no way you could have built a computer like that for that price a year ago! Boy to I love Competition!

nice but that chip is gonna bottleneck the hell out of that gpu. thats a hell of a build though for that price. its hard to believe that the prices have dropped so much.

dang man, that is extremely great for the money. I remember 2 years ago i had a budget of $500 as well, my build was a celeron 420, 610i mobo, 1 gig ram, 160Gb WD, 8600gt, and asus case plus a cheapo psu. I'd say your build wins for low price : good performance.

I suggest an E5200 instead and OC it like it's meant to. I'm sure you can find a cheap used one somewhere. Get an S1283 or Mugan 2 cooler instead - great bang for bucks. Nice HDD choice. Back down the 4870 and go for a used 8800GTX/GTS (G92). With the money saved buy a better PSU - VX450W Corsair. Sell the other PSU in the combo deal to make some money back. Do you need 2GB right now? Perhaps save money and get 2GB.

Good build except I would go for I would save a few bucks on a case and get a little bit better psu.Nothing wrong with your psu choice but I would go a little bit better.Check out the Cooler Master store for refurb cases and pus's.
