Smile My Newest upgrade

Hey everyone!

Tonight my new shipment comes in:
EVGA 780i Mobo
Q9550.

This is a major upgrade from my previous system:
AMD 4400+ x2
Asus M2N-Sli deluxe

I still own a 8800GT, but I've still got a 8500GT just lying around here..
So I would like to know if I can use it as a dedicated physx card and if so, how to do that.

I was thinking on my next rig update:
GTX260 SLI
I think this would do great because of my big monitor (24" 1920x1200)
My friends got alot of probs with SLi, and told me to go with Xfire.

I'll post pics and benches asap

Greets

SLI is what you'll get with NVidia cards. Crossfire is only with ATI. Also, SLI works well... your friend just needs to do some troubleshooting. Using a dedicated PhysX card doesn't improve performance on much. Running SLI or getting a new card would be a better idea. With your new mobo, you could probably run crossfire and use the 8500GT as a dedicated PhysX card. Either way, go SLI or get a better card. Then you can decide to use the 8500 or not.

And P.S. I have an 8800GT that you could SLI with if you're interested.

Hey everyone time for a update:

Got my Q9550 in together with the neon and EVGA 780i ftw mobo.
Builded it yesterday, ran some tests but the results seem to be dissapointing..

only got 13,5K 3DMark06 score with 3,3 GHZ overclock.
(with my old system: amd 4400+ x2 @ 2,9 ghz I got 10,5k...)
I'll try to run some more tests today and I've got a big mod planned for my V9 case.

I'm gonna replace the top 220mm fan by 4x 80 mm fans. The 220mm fan is just spinning to slow and I just don't like it.
I was planning on making a 120 mill exaust on the bottom of my case.
Dunno if I should paint the inside; (now its just plain grey)
My fans make a lot of noise, so I'm gonna install some acoustic dampning.
There is still a lot to be done

I also gonna order 2x 500 GB HDD for a RAID0 config.

(pics coming soon!)

I've hit a wall I guess...

My Q9550 will not clock any higher then 3,554 GHZ; I could run it for about 3 minutes on 3,7.. then got BSOD's and I needed to reset/clear CMOS.

I think the problem is my PSU, its max output is 350 watt :$ ( I atleast proved that you can run my system on 350 Watts )
So think on upgrading that first, then go with my new cards, Hdd's and stuff.

I hope that anyone has suggestions!
