I'm looking to build a gaming rig for $500.

What can you guys come up with? I've been out of the computing components loop for too long

Hey there Tator, thanks a lot for your help. I don't need the OS, but I'd like to keep the burner. So I'm curious what could be changed in the build since now I have an extra $100?

You don't really need one since you can use the stock cooler but a aftermarket one is better.

With a $600 budget (I saw you say you had an additional $100) this would be my recommendation.

The 9600gso in the previous build would have been fine. But with the additional $100 I say you go with something close to what I priced. The 4870 will blow the 9600gso out of the water.

The 4850 even would kill the 9600 if you wanted to save a little more.
