Default [Project] Luminous's First Rig

Luminosity - Luminous's First Build.

Well after much debating and searching for a New High-spec Pre-built computer, I decided to take the plunge and lean and build my own computer from scratch. And then learn to over-clock it. I was reading some other logs about peoples build process and decided to start some of my own.

Chapters of Build Progress

1. Order the New Parts - Staggered over a month.
2. Read up on building and set up PC's
3. Picture of Parts.
4. Build the system - With Pictures are various stages.
5. Install Windows 7 RC, Install drivers
7. Final Pictures of the finish build.

Planned System Parts:- although still deciding.

Motherboard: Asus Rampage II Extreme X58 - £242
RAM: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 6GB (3x2GB)(1600MHz) - £90

Possible Upgrades - Later Date.
Extra Case Fans.

Expensive! Too bad you guys don't have a microcenter near you! $200 for that CPU.

Yup. Can't seem find the i7 920 any cheaper in the UK.

I would order from overseas but I think have pay import tax on top plus the shipping and handling fees?

the R2E is unnecessary, go for a cheaper board like the EVGA x58.

Ok thanks, Certainly reduces the price! Can i ask why you say the R2e is unnecessary? Just so I understand.

The BloodRage is supposed to be a very good motherboard, great overclocker aswell.

I think the Megahalem and V8 should perform closely, however I believe the Megahalem will cool better.
