Default First Build. Ever. (important pictures now in the first post)

It's about time I updated the first post :P

This thread is dedicated to my first build. It was built mainly for everyday use and source games. I'll be updating this thread with any changes I make to the pc in the coming months. It's not the most high-end build, but it'll last me a year or two until I can go i7 or something (heh...like I even need i7)

As of august 28th, the build has been running well for about a week *knock on wood*, but the apevia psu keeps me in constant fear. I'm not stressing it much though, so I'm sure it'll be fine even though the psu is horribly overrated.

Parts list:

Mobo: Gigabyte EP45-UD3R
CPU: Pentium Dual-Core E6300
RAM: OCZ Blade Series 2x2gb DDR2 800
GPU: Radeon 4350 (Temporary---getting a 4850 soon)
HDD: WD Caviar Black 500gb
Case: CoolerMaster Elite 335 (great budget case by the way)
PSU: Apevia 700w (saving up for a vx550 or 650...)

Pictures:

This case has no room behind the mobo tray, but I think I did a nice job, especially for my first try at cable management.

To-do List:

-Get corsair psu
-Get 4850
-Get new cpu cooler (a mere 200mhz overclock and I'm already getting into the mid-70s at full load)
-Cut side window
-???
-Profit

If anyone would like to help me out with lightly used parts, I'll be waiting Money's tough to obtain right now, as I'm only 15 and have no job. This pc is the most expensive thing I've ever bought, believe it or not.

Gigabyte EP45-UD3R...i just picked one up for 90 bucks =] your gpu should be fine considering your cpu bottleneck. pick up a corsair 520watter. plenty of head room;] consider an aftermarket cooler if you plan on overclocking (youll need to with tht cpu lol)

Mobo: Gigabyte EP45-UD3R
CPU: Pentium Dual-Core E6300
RAM: OCZ Blade Series 2x2gb DDR2 800
GPU: Radeon 4350 (Temporary---getting a 4850 soon)
HDD: WD Caviar Black 500gb
Case: CoolerMaster Elite 335 (great budget case by the way)
PSU: None yet. I'm trying to find a reliable one, but I ran out of cash when I bought everything else :P

The parts should be getting here today. I'll update with pictures once I have everything (except, of course, the psu) in.
if you want a rock solid psu then you cant go wrong with any of the corsair ones.

Yeah, a big upgrade from a P4. Hope you enjoy getting your feet wet (not literally) with your first build. Although not much can be done without the PSU.

I know man, the corsair psu's are just so expensive. I could afford a 450w one, but I think I might go with the 550w antec truepower new.

I do have a 700w apevia psu here, but I'm trying to sell it and I'm not really willing to hook that thing up to my pc :P

im telling you, the corsairs are worth it. the packaging alone shows the quality not to mention the excellent job they do sleeving the cables.

oh and of course the 520 will most likely out perform your apevia psu lol(corsair uses continuous load while most other companies use peak)

You get what you pay for... and since the PSU powers everything else in the system, it's the one thing you really want to avoid skimping on. The Corsair VX series are cheaper than the other lines they have, and are just as good.

Doesn't antec use continuous load too?

Here's the link to the psu. It's $80 on newegg. Go or no?

some psus show continuous load under their specs. corsair does not advertise continuous load(for most psus) but test and rate in that manner. therefore a 520 corsair will perform much better than a 550w from another company
