Default Needing Assistance With Building an HTPC

I want to build a HTPC to go with my 47" HDTV. I want to take advantage of it being HD, so I would prefer it to have an HDMI out. I am going to be building this from scratch, and hope to keep the budget at $500 or so.

I do not need this HTPC to playback DVD's or Blu-Rays. The main purpose for this system is to play some of my games on the big screen, and look at pictures and stream video from YouTube, Netflix, etc.

My electronics are mostly black, so it'd be great if the case matched.

Can you guys help me out? I have no idea what to look for in a case for a HTPC setup, or if I should go MicroATX or regular ATX and all that. Thanks!

I like that the card can output audio, and the case looks nice. Am I going in the right direction?

If you want to play games on the big screen, why not just hook your current pc up to it?

Agree, HTPCs aren't primarily for gaming, that is why the Atom and ION platforms are used so often for them - as opposed to i7s and the lot. You can, though, use your gaming rig as a Media PC with a little creative cabling and maybe a different GPU (one with HDMI).

I use my sig rig as my HTPC and I can play pretty much any game I throw at it.

Also, that case you listed has horrible cooling. I had one and switched to the Silverstone Sugo SG02
