__________________My friend wants a gaming rig built up, with a budget of around £600 to £800 He doesn't need a monitor or mouse.. just everything else lol, I was thinking of just building him the same rig as me, but there's probably some stuff that could do with changing I was also thinking going Core 2 Quad, maybe a Q9650, but then there's Core i7, like maybe a 920, i haven't really been paying alot of attention to mobos and stuff because i don't want to tempt myself. Also i was thinking GTX 260 in sli or GTX 275, but ATI could be an option too so what do you guys think? thanks =)

i was thinking i5, but then there's not much chance of upgrading the processor with that socket?

OK...so I went a little over the price range...but I couldn't help myself!
![]() I think the i7 920 is still the best way to go in terms of cpu, if you can afford to go down that route.

The Antec 300 is a nice case, though, it's a little small for the newer graphics cards and mobos. I found mine to be abit of a squeeze when setting up my sig rig, but it all went in OK in the end.
In terms of cooling and airflow, its' not bad at all, I would recommend getting better 120mm fans than the antec ones supplied, and mounting them all round, you should be able to get a nice airflow through the case then. If it's affordable I think it's worth considering the Antec 902, or 1200, or the Coolermaster HAF 932, they will provide better cooling and give you a little more room to play with.

Also what I didn't include on the basket in my earlier post was a CPU cooler. You will want a nice cooler so you can make the most of that 920, I think the Megahalems is the best way to go with 2 decent 120mm fans in a push-pull setup (get San Aces if you can, they're the best you can get, but are pretty hard to get hold of). An alternative to the Megahalems is the TRUE 120 which I have. I would post some temps for you but mine needs re-seating at the moment as the load temps are waaaay high, so I can't really give you an accurate reference atm.
