Default Thoughts on this build

I plan on upgrading some of my components due to my wife's emachines taking a crap. I'm giving her my Q9400, my CPU cooler, getting her an ASUS P5QPL-VM, and giving her my RAM. I will be re-using the emachines case, HDD, PSU, and DVD drive. I'm keeping the rest of the stuff in my sig rig but plan on upgrading to a Q9550, Mushkin 2x2GB 800MHz RAM, EVGA GTX275 (keeping my 9800GTX+ for dedicated physx), and going with a Mugen2 CPU cooler.

Will I see a performance boost?

I don't think the boost will be that great, if there is one. Might as well sell your motherboard (or give it to your wife) and get an i5 system, which won't be that much more expensive. Maybe even i7.

9800GTX+ for dedicated physx is going to be pretty pointless in my honest opinion. you should get a 9600 for that.
With the Q9550 you may see a bit of a performance boost..the CPU cooler is a decent one. Enjoy hitting 4.0GHz on that CPU bro.
Good luck!

I'm using the 9800GTX+ for physx because I already have it, and the MOBO I'm getting my wife has onboard graphics. She only uses her PC for work and Sims3.

You think you could get an i5 if you sold the 9800GTX+ and your motherboard? That would give you far more upgrade room.

I would probably do like everyone else said, give your wife your PC and go to I5 or I7 and keep whatever part you have left over as back ups.

What could I get for a 9800GTX+ 1GB, and ASUS P5Q Deluxe MOBO? They have been used for about 8 months, and the MOBO has the latest BIOS on it.

I can't sell it on here due to my rep.

An open box P5Q Deluxe goes for $114 on newegg, I paid $210 for the 9800GTX+ new. I think I over paid for the 9800GTX+.

I don't have any adapters for the graphics card, and the MOBO would be sold without any accessories. Although I do have all the boxes and drivers discs.

Do you think it's possible to sell this stuff along with 2x1GB sticks of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 for $270 shipped?
