Just an update; I just bought G.Skill Ripjaws 3x2GB DDR3 2000.

Guessing I'll run them at 1600 with timings of around 6-7-6.

Once I get them around Tuesday I'll update with pictures.

Nice, I'm thinking about getting the same but in 2x2GB set but I'm not sure if my motherboard will be able to run them.

Got the RAM a while back, and I've been running the system with some old parts. (450w PSU, ATI X1550, old HDD)

I have a picture, and new-parts-news, but first the picture.

The 4-pin cable wasn't long enough. My HAF 932 came with an 8-pin extension, but I was afraid to use it and then mess something up putting only 4-pin in it.

Yes, I'm using the stock Intel heatsink. (I feel so ashamed.) I wanted it to run, and I was broke.
Good news is I just bought a Megahalems off ebay from jimmyscw

Now I just need to know which fans to buy, and what TIM to use.

I'm not sure if I want push/pull 25mm, or one 38mm, or what. San Aces cost a ton for a fan, and panaflo's are 15, but I won't have the fan-holders for a 38mm. Best 25mm fan for push/pull suggestions?

Also, TIM. Shin Etsu, OCZ Freeze, AS5, ????.

Let's hear some comments and suggestions!

Hopefully my post isn't too late, but I have the Mega Shadow and I am using OCZ with idle temps in the mid 30s and load in the upper 60s. Also, I am overclocked to 4GHz with HT enabled so I would highly recommend the OCZ if you haven't already made your purchase.

Sadly enough I did already make my purchase. Happy to say that I DID go with OCZ Freeze though! It shipped from the Memphis Newegg warehouse, so it'll be here tomorrow, and the Rexus (Panaflo) 38mm fan I ordered is shipping from the La Puenta, CA warehouse, so it'll probably take 4 days. (I might've ordered two, for super 38mm push/pull!, but they only had one in stock at the time.)

I have no idea when I'll get the Megatron, but it's shipped. (USPS tracking sucks T_T)

30 idle, 60 load is going to be nice. With the stock heatsink I'm at 60 idle, 80 load.

*Edit: I really wanted a San Ace, but nobody has any in stock, anywhere. How can the best fan ever, not be available anywhere? If it's such a good fan, you'd think somebody would be selling them. (Some website has them, but you HAVE to purchase 20 of them, and they're 20$ each.)

So I got my Megatron today, but the fan hasn't arrived yet. So I pulled a stock 140mm fan off my case and put it on there instead.

TO MY HORROR, THIS IS WHAT I SAW WHEN I REMOVED THE STOCK INTEL HEATSINK!

No wonder I was idle at 60C. Stock Heatsink and no pressure to spread the stock TIM. (I pressed down and such, but apparently it still didnt work.)

Anyway, the megatron is on and such, and it looks great. Idling at 42 right now. Don't know ambient/load/etc though. The 38mm fan on the way will help a ton, since this is a pos case fan.

Here's the megatron with a 140mm fan on it!

Nice. your build is slowly piecing together.
I wish I had an i7. Wow thats amazing how can they create a heatsink that doesn't press down on the cpu firmly?

Just a news bump.

Since buying and installing the megahalems, my computer has been running around 30-40C idle. I have no idea what the ambient is, so whatever.

Anyway, I ordered another 120mm x 38mm fan to put it in Push/Pull. It should be here Monday some time. (Likely making my computer even louder, I can't wait!)

Also Also Also, I ordered one of these. I looked at them forever in the deals thread, then posted commenting on the 6-pin only, no 8 pin, but I really need a PSU, and this ones cheap-yet-nice, so I bought it. Apparently OCZ warranties are very nice, so that's good.

Next thing to buy is gonna be a video card, which may or may not take a while.

Intel push pins are junk. Thats a nice build you got going there. When your 5870 finally arrives you will be destroying any game on the market today.
