Budget remaining: $1,100.00
Parts owned: i7 920 D0 corsair 850Watt psu 640gb wd bc Coolermaster HAF 932 Samsung burner Pre-ordered Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit Purchase date: Like pretty much tonightish maybe. The rest of the build comes as a blur.. Purchase a 5850 or purchase a 5870? My thoughts were waiting for the 5870 OC versions with the nice aftermarket coolers. Purchase a 5870 and just plan on purchasing another in the future for CF or 5850 again and wait 5870x2. No matter what i'm not getting two gpu's for this build atleast it wouldn't fit the budget from my standpoint. Motherboards: Asus P6TD Deluxe which is on sale for $270 right now ( I'm not sure but I think the bios from what I read is quite a bit different than the other P6T Deluxes. Maybe a Rampage II or the classified.. or w/e Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820226050 pretty looks like the best bang for the buck without spending $300 Heatsink: Going with a nice air cooler so thinking of a Mega with push-pull. But yeah, I would rather know what you would do/buy with the money for the build or the opinions on what I was thinking of. Thanks |

go for this ram great performer, and its cheaper
![]() I'm kind of biased where the board comes in, but if you want to save some cash I'm selling an Asus P6t in the sale in my signature. And if you do that: 1100-165-170= plenty of room left over to buy two 5870's and a kickass air cooler

If you're in the $270 ballpark for motherboards, then I would suggest the DFI LanParty UT X58-T3eH8. It's really an underrated motherboard and is very conducive to overclocking. It's a DFI after all
. The PCIe layout is also very well thought-out. You can stick 3 dual-slot GPU's in there easily for tri-SLI/tri-Fire should you want to in the future. If you want the best performing motherboard for the money, though, it has to be the Foxconn Bloodrage. Everyone recommends it because it offers the best price to performance ratio on the X58 platform. As for RAM, I think G.Skill Tridents offer the best bang for your buck. You can get a 6GB kit for $150 on Newegg here. And the heatsink...Megahalems should be good with some San Aces in push-pull...The RAM I suggested has got tall heatspreaders, though...Not sure how that would play out with the heatsink and fan setup...
