Default First Build Help

I am getting ready to build my first computer. Below is what I have purchased and I would like input if I should change anything. I would like to overclock this once I get a little more knowledge so please keep that in mind with your reccommendations.

Asus Rampage II GENE LGA 1366 Intel X58 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield

Kingston HyperX 6GB DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000)

OCZ Vertex 120 GB SSD (for OS and programs)

WD Caviar Green 1.5 TB for storage

Samsung DVD Burner

Antec TPQ-850 850W Modular Power Supply

Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2

MSI Geforce 9600 GT 1 GB video card (This is a holdover until the Geforce 300 series come out or maybe the ATI 5870) I only want one card as its a Micro ATX

Antec Mini P183 Mini Tower

If I am missing something or you have any input please let me know

Thanks for the help guys!

looks like you have everything ready to go. I assume you have peripherals (speakers, mouse, keyboard, monitor).

keep in mind that the i7 processors run a little hotter than other processors when OC'd, (but they are built to stand the temperatures). Good cooling is always better than stock. You should also purchase a good Thermal Paste to attach your cooling system. It will allow better heat transfer than what comes in the box.

You also have an option of lapping the processor for the best possible heat transfer, which involves sanding the surface to a mirror polish, I would keep that as an option.

Good luck!

I wanted to wait and see how the onboard soundcard sounded first.

I guess I should have listed all the peripherals as well

Samsung xl2370 monitor
Logitech G15 Keyboard
Logitech G9 mouse
Harmon Kardon speakers
and Thermal 400 paste

I already have those on hand so I forgot to mention them. Thanks for the input!

Onboard sound is great in most cases, unless you are a complete audiophile. I think it is personal preference, and I don't think anyone would think less of you for using it. Also to utilize a high quality sound card, you would need high quality speakers, and would be more costly.
