I'm currently looking to build a new computer to run on Windows 7 Professional.
Current P55 Build: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=16501507 OR Current X58 Build: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=15842868 + CPU Cooler - Prolimatech Mega Shadow Deluxe Edition CPU Heatsink http://www.crazypc.com/products/mega-shadow-508603.html The idea behind this build is keeping with the top of the line aesthetic, while maintaining decent cost efficiency. I plan on overclocking the CPU to 3.8 GHz or so. But, I'm seriously thinking of switching over to X58 (which is why I included both builds) for further overclocking potential and overall greater speed. I will be waiting for the 5870X2 to come out, so add ~$200 to my build. The SSD is the OS and intensive app drive, and the Raptor is the Gaming hard drive. For the fans, the Slipstream is for pull and one of the GentleTyphoons are for push on my CPU cooler. The remaining 3 are extra case fans for the P55 and 2 on the X58. I have somewhat of a price barrier at ~$2500. Hopefully you can help me work out the kinks on both builds. Thanks a lot to any help you can give me! id just go jump over to 1366 and get a i7 920 d0 at microcenter if you have one for $199 spec code SLBEJ if you have one close by. save some cash that way. and also if your not looking for a heavy overclock (4 and beyond) id recommend toning down on the mobo and get like the p6t v2 or the gigabyte udr x58. (and that's besides the fact that i don't trust open box from the egg i already got burned more than once from them) and last but not least Id recommend breaking the 1000w barrier on the psu for future upgrades trust me i learned that mistake the hard way... hope this helps gl on build

If you can afford it, ditch the Raptor and get an SSD with a Western Digital Caviar Black 640gb hard drive. The SSD will give you BLAZING fast boot times, load times in games, etc. You can't go back once you've used an SSD.

And yeah, the PSU should be excellent. There were tons of sites that rated it as best in class and such, so I had to have it. It's actually pretty cheap too. Quote:
Thanks a lot for the comments guys! What do you guys think of me swapping out the Cosmos S for the Antec P183 featured in my P55 build? I really like the P183 for some reason. I like the minimalistic feel of it, and it's about twice as air cooling efficient as the Cosmos S. Last edited by Ironeyes : 3 Weeks Ago at 10:41 AM |
