I started a thread just like this one about 2 years ago and it was very successful. I was able to get very valuable input from OC members back then and my intent with this thread is to achieve the same level of collaboration in helping me build the ultimate system of the century
__________________ )I started thinking about upgrading my system about 2 months ago. My intent was to upgrade my CPU only, which I did to a quad core, but then I thought about it some more and decided to upgrade my entire system. It creeped up on me and caught me by surprise, it happened so fast, oh my. Anyway, my budget is about $2,250, and I expect to offset the total cost of the new system by selling the parts that I don't need from the old system. I intend to keep my case and power supply, but everything else will need to be replaced. I already decided on the monitor, (2) SAMSUNG 2443BWT. I wanted to get input from you guys on what you would purchase for the new system if you had the budget. I want to go with DFI mobo and an Intel CPU, but I'm open to other suggestions as well. Thanks in advance. SAFX (Please don't ask me about selling anything because I can't discuss that without violating the TOS, thanks)

With a buget like that you need an EVGA classified and a phase change unit and 3 of the nicest GTX3xx series cards that are coming out.

You know, after using the evga 680i for 2 years, I really want to go with a different mobo vendor. The evga was nice, but had problems trying to OC my quad core; want to go with DFI this time, or something else if there are better options.

With a 4k budget, why not get a new case?
Parts: 920 DO Evga Classified 12GBs of G-skill Trident Corsair 800D or have one of our resident modders build you a sick custom case. Enermax 1050+ watt psu 3 x 5870 or (if you can wait) 3 x fermi based cards 2 x 128 gb ssd's in raid 0 And a kickass wc set up.

$4000 is entirely too much money, unless you're planning on multiple solid state drives. The best GPU configurations that make sense wouldn't push the cost up more than $2,000.

With a multiple monitor setup I say grab a 3rd monitor and go with 2 5870s and play with eyefinity! Now days monitors are the largest part of the buget, at least for the extreme high end.

.I'm just that type of person I guess, but i'd certainly be willing to put that much out for a nice PC. Imagine the scores you could get O_O.
