conroes seem to have a cpu speed wall lets just say hypothetically 3.5ghz is the max X cpu will do... that cpu would in theory be just as happy at 500x7 as 389x9 but with the 500x7 OC performing flightly better due to faster ram (assuming 1:1 ram ratio) and a faster FSB speed.

allendales, at least what ive found with my e4300 as an example seem to have a FSB wall were mine will post at 375 but no higher (runs stable at 365). doesnt matter if its 7x375, 8x375 or 9x375. its just as happy running at either multiplier but running lower multipliers results in slower performance since its taking a big cpu speed hit.

conroes might have a FSB wall just like the allendale but it seems its usually alot higher than the max cpu speed wall

Hello MADMAX22, I was wondering if you had done any testing with the e4300 and quadgt? If so, what amount voltage were your pumping to the N/S bridge, FSB and CPU, and what was your best OC? I am only on air and so far best I can do is 380x9, would the pin mod help me? Also are there any "dead zones" with the quadgt's fsb range? Sorry for all the Q's , but I think your the only other person I have seen with an e4300 and quadgt.

good info...yes it seems to me that the e6xxx line is more frequency limited and the e4300 is fsb limited..i dont know for sure, but i think conroe and allendale are the same...cpuz (when validated) will change it from allendale to conroe...

my question is
is the e4300 fsb limited because its a 1066 chip that intel modified to be 800? kind of like the 12 to 16pp mods on some ati cards...

the quadgt is the 965p chipset, so it will most likely have the same straps settings as the other p965 motherboards...

what week is your cpu? 380x9 stable is really nice...most can't run stable at that setting..they can post and bench, but not orthos or tat stable..plus you never know, your cpu may only go that high..

So far i have only seen 1 965 mobo work with the pin mod..that is the biostar motherboard that i listed..the asus p5b uses the older bios to change the straps...so its hard to say if bsel mod is right for you...but no one has reported a dead cpu from trying it out...let us know if you try the bsel mod and if it works..

Yes the quadgt is the same chipset, but you can select the which strap you wish to use, not only that but the highest selectable strap is the 1066 there is no 1333. That's why I am thinking the fsb holes may be different. I really did not want to try the bsel mod, but if it looks like I can squeeze more performance out what the heck. Although until I can drop some change on a water cooling setup, it really is just speculation, I am not willing to push Vcore beyond 1.45(@ that Vcore I have only benched no Orthos testing) on air.

thing is i have raid. and it wouldnt initiatem my raid array. nor would any changes i made stick. i'd set it all to defaults, with the exception of setting it to raid and reboot, it wouldnt let me get past the f2. windows wouldnt load, since there was no boot partition, and i couldnt get the setting to stick in the bios
