when you say 20c off do you mean the 20c difference you read between the two different programs? or do you mean you are still 20c too high?

1con you should try the 0711 bios with a 8x multi...many have been able to use lower vcore with 8x..so if you use the 0711 bios with 8x multi you may still get even higher clocks while running cool...

EDIT...1con .i'm an idiot...sorry...and i just got done telling someone in another forum he needed to learn to read the whole thread...lol...nm 1con, i guess i make too many 4300 posts between 3 forums..lol

its ok. its because of the raid, i dont get why it wont save tho. press f1, it goes into the bios, even if i only change one thing and save (both by f10 or, exit and save) it reboots, and doesnt hold the changes. 711, and 804 do it. 910 does not. it works fine, as well as 1004 and the newest. but i see little to now overclocking change. im gonna see if i can find 600 and 800 grit sandpaper tonight and lap, and reseat it. (i have 1200 and 2000 already but cant find anything higher than 400 now)

its so hard to tell what could be holding you up..i need to know your system specs...goto USER CP and add your specs to EDIT SYSTEM...if you read threw the first post and nothing worked then i have a bunch of questions...i haven't delt with that mobo yet, so i am limited as to how i can help...

typical settings are as follows
fsb 333-375
vcore 1.44v
vfsb (stock to +.3v)
RAM multi set to 2.00 not auto
PCIe frequency set to 100Mhz
shut off any "protections" your motherboard bios may have....

Newegg is down right now so i can't see what ram you have...but could you tell me if its DDR2-800 or DDR2-667?

as far as holes or "walls" go, this cpu find them..lol...one thing you may try is this..it has worked for a few others..

fsb 375
multi 8x
vcore stock
vfsb stock
vmch stock
ram 1:1 or 2.00
PCIe 100Mhz

try that and if you don't post then try to raise your vcore slightly and boot..if you do not post or do not boot, then repeat till you do..seems that with the 8x multi your cpu won't need nearly as much vcore...

@MADMAX22 i was going to ask you what mobo you used with the 0711 bios...at least i was close to right with what bios was used..lol..i'll update that..I thought you needed 1.8vcore, that must have been someone else then..i'll update that as well...thanks..
The lowest I can set my fsb to is 400...

I don't understand how you have such low voltage at 3.6. I can't get mine to boot at 3.2 without 1.425 or greater vCore. Also, I can't get past 10 minutes of Orthos with my current set up.

-edit- vCore set at 1.425, temps do not exceed 58c. Even at 1:1 ratio, I still cannot get my system to start with vcore under 1.4. And if I set it to under 1.4, Orthos does not even complete the first test.

you might have a vcore hungry chip, i have the same prob. unless i crank my vcore up which i don't feel comfy doing with my current cooling set-up, my 4300 is week 43a, i have noticed a couple power hungry 4300's

Here's some more specs for the spreadsheet

e4300 Allendale
Q641A296 (wk41)
currently running 350FSB, 9x Multi, 1.45vcore (3.15Ghz, Orthos/F@H stable for 24+ hours)
Idle temps: 36c/27c (Junction/Core) @29c ambient (SpeedStep is currently disabled but I plan on enabling it later tonight)
Load temps: 47c/59c (Junction/Core) @29c ambient

This chip is partially lapped. I started the process and sanded until an X made with a Sharpie from corner to corner was completely erased twice, but there is still some zinc on the IHS, which I will be removing shortly. It is being cooled by a Zalman CNPS9500AT (also lapped). I'm hoping to push this chip further once I finish lapping and get the temps under control, and I will post any updates here.

Great thread, lots of informative posts Thanks for taking the time to compile all this info.

Edit: Finished lapping this thing, seems like I'm just about at my limit anyway. Temps are now 45c/56c (Junction/Core) load. I still haven't enabled SpeedStep, because I forgot while I was lapping/improving the wire management it my case.
