Default E4300 GigabyteGA-965P-DS3 and Buffalo Firestix

Hi,

Just finished putting together my rig and setting it up, and already ran into problems when attempting to overclock this machine. I tried to fix the ram so it runs 1:1 by choosing 2 for the multiplier i think? Now I tried booting it up at 350x9, but after it boots up and hits windows, I check cpu-z and it shows default speeds. Like i didn't even do anything to the bios, but when I go in it shows that I have 350 but it shows disabled in the thing, instead of what I already switched to enable. Everytime I boot up I get hte same problem. Help Please!

flash your bios, after making sure cpu speed manual is enabled and that you save your changes after editing the bIOS and it still doesnt work.

i use the S3 (same bios) never had this problem

also, welcome to the site, and please update system specs in teh USER CP.

Disable C1E and EIST in your bios too.

every cpu is different...so you can't totally base your oc'ing off of someone elses results...too many factors to do that...

have you updated your bios yet? use @bios, it should have come with your Gigabyte disk and is more than likely already on your pc..

did you try to overclock at anyother speeds? or did you just jump in and try 350fsb...slow increases is the best way to go when oc'ing..

you could read threw this, it may help you..

http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...ions-here.html

also your system specs would be great...we can help you more if you post those or goto your user cp and fill in system specs...

your RAM could have something to do with your oc if your using 667mhz...your vcore may also need adjustments...but you should find your lowest stable oc without adjusting your vcore, then raise it one step at a time along with your fsb till you post...1.45vcore is about as high as i would go, and usually means an AIR COOLED system the cpu would be running as hot as it could..

I got it to 310x9 with the system power voltage at auto, but when I try to boot up with 320x9 the system takes a long time to start, and when I start up the FSB frequency has been changed back to disable instead of enable.. What do I need to do go further? Thanks

PLEASE POST YOUR SYSTEM SPECS
like we all have at the bottom of our posts....goto "USER CP" at the top of this page, then goto "EDIT SYSTEM" and fill that in to the best of your ability...

disable ANY protections you have in your bios....(C1E and EIST) some have a 3rd that i can't recall..
set your PCIe to 100Mhz
set your RAM to 2x
set your vcore to 1.325 (stock)
make sure your vdimm is set to the correct voltage for your RAM (firestix need 2.1v from what i remember)
----that means your motherboard defaults your vdimm to 1.8v so you need to increase that +.3v under vdimm
disable any FAN CONTROL your bios has to let the fans run 100%

raise your fsb to the highest it can go stable, then when you go beyond it raise your cvore one step till you post..raise your fsb again and repeat till you find your highest stable post..keep track of your temps when you do this with TAT from intel....don't go above 1.5vcore and 70c TAT load....

you should not need any voltage increases except for vcore and vdimm.....
