Default E4300

Im running a e4300 with the mem in me sig, i have 2 questions. Firstly i OC'ed to 2.4 and me computer started running very slow, me run mulitplyer is 2, i also tried 2.66.

Secondly, intel TAT says me computer was running at 50C when idle, Speedfan said 30C. Then i resarted me computer and went into the BIOS and it said mm CPU was running at 25C. Which software is more reilable at telling the temp of me CPU.

I am starting to have doubts about TAT and speedfan with the newer generation Core 2 Duos.

But what's up with a multi of 2??? isn't the default multi 9 for that chip?

Can you get CPU-Z an show me a screenshot?

if i understand it correct...to really oc on those 945's you need use an older bios or do the bsel mod..i could be wrong tho..

second your temps will be 15-18c diff between TAT and other monitors..trust TAT to give your real core temps...50c idle is too high tho...

What is the cpu temp under load? If it's 50c idle I can imagine it get's pretty hot and might start thermal throttling, which would explain the slow system.

I have my e4300 running hot, too.
It is running 333x8 CPU, 333x2 RAM.
Idle temp is about 55C with TAT.
If I torture with TAT, it went to 77C.
For normal use (i.e. video editing), it is fine, though.

FYI, I am going to lap my CPU this weekend.

I've seen a lot of people complain about their temps with e4300, do those cpus run that hot? or are those just individual cases? Aren't they the same architechture as 6xxx?

i got one to 3.2 on stock cooling..but that prob. had a lot to do with not needing very much vcore to do it...IMO the stock intel cooler is much better than most all stock coolers, and some aftermarket coolers...

I still think its the 945p chipset holding him back...i thought the 945p needed a bsel mod or an older bios to go above 2.6 with a 4300....

as far as temps go...those 4300's are curved...not sure why..almost everyone that has had temp issues resolved them with lapping or removing the IHS...prob. the reason for his high idle temps..
