Question Help me OC my E4300!

Hey there,

I want to overclock my E4300 (week 45A) to 3GHz.

Currently the speed is at stock 1.80GHz and the memory is at stock 4-4-4-12 667MHz

CPU voltage is also stock at 1.325v and I want to gain an overclock on stock voltage or maybe just a little higher.

What settings do you recommend for the FSB, memory and voltage?

Thanks.

Just keep going up by 10 FSB and continue until you cannot boot. Afterwards raise your voltage a bit. After you get to a point where you are content, run Orthos to check your temps. Try not to exceed 60C.

If you run into a bad problem where you can't even get BIOS to post, do a CMOS reset by pulling out the motherboard battery for about 10 minutes.

yep, set the vcore to 1.325 or 1.35, should be fine with that cooler, set your ram to run 1:1 for now at about 2.0volts or whatever rated is plus a notch, the cpu may do this at those volts try it out, just do that then set it to 333x9 and see what happens

I just tried that MADMAX22 and I get a STOP 0x0000008E BSOD error just before the Windows XP loading splash screen is about to show.

CPU was set @ 333x9 with 1.35v

RAM was set @ 1:1 with FSB so 667MHz with 2.081v

What should I do now?

10FSB is too much. Go by 5, then, when you can't boot anymore, go by 4, till you can't boot, 3, till you can't boot, 2, till you can't boot. You're good to use 1.5V up to 2.4GHZ, in my case anyhow.

Try bumping the vcore up a notch or two and try again.

What would you consider a safe CPU voltage that won't result in a severe shortening of the CPU lifespan?

I want to keep this CPU for around 4 years.

No one really knows how much the voltage shortens the lifespan of a CPU, however if your temperatures are within safe limits you should be alright. i wouldn't suggest going above 1.45V, but someone will come in here saying they've used more. Its your temperature that matters more than that actual voltage.

Did you even READ my post? You don't need that much voltage. I get almost half way there with nearly a volt lower than that, could probly go lower. Go up in smaller FSB increments.

Edit, missed the BSOD part. That sounds like unstable memory. Memtest?
