nice charts. are these with the 9x multiplier? have the tried the 8x?
I used the 9x multiplier. I just recently updated my bios and now dropping the multiplier seems less finicky so I may play with that some.

I'm all benched out for now... But later in the week I plan on playing with different ram timings, recording temps under load @ varying vCORE, and perhaps if the lower multipliers will play nice try to guage the effects of fsb saturation(6x250 vs 7x214 vs 8x188 vs 9x167 just made those #s up but you get the idea).

First, WHOA, WHOA, WHOA.....

I'm running an Asus P5LD2 mobo (945P, neweggage: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813131048), and I was able to achieve 3208.05 MHz (356.45 * 9) on my E4300. 32-35C idle with a Zalman CNPS-7000A-Cu HSF...and I'm thinking of another reset of that HSF, too, after learning more and more about AS5 applications. Granted, it too me a bit of learning and tweaking to get to this point, but *my* 945P sure puts a smile on *my* face! There aren't too many other E4300s out there up above me on air, either--regardless of mobo.

Second: Great job on your work, results, and publishing. Rep+! I admire the work you did to further illustrate that 1:1 timings are not something we ought to cling to like some ancient religion. I'm running 3.2GHz with 4:5 timings.

Keep up the great work!

RE First: Great results, I had only heard the 945P were atrocious overclockers, I was under the impression the PCI e Frequency could not be locked... But clearly I was wrong. Kudos on the the massive OC.

RE Second: Thanks! I had intended to do more testing and update my charts, unfortunately dropping the multiplier beyond x8 caused all sorts of buggy behavior. So I will test FSB saturation at some other point. Currently my goal is to sell my rig on craigslist asap and then have the capital to begin building a new c2q after 7/22 price drops. So if I can pull it off I'll probably do some testing with more multithreaded apps to determine performance of Kentsfield quads and how that performance scales through strap changes, memory div, ect.

Also you might want to consider posting your OC results in a new thread b/c I honestly have never seen such a high OC on a 945P chipset, its rather impressive.

You are correct about the PCI-E Freq. lock..as far as I know, there isnt a 945p that does lock the pci-e. No big deal, as long as your vid card can hang w/ a ~118-120mhz freq. Typically, around 150-160mhz over the default strap, is where most of the 945's crap out, due to the pci-e issue.

I run a 945p on my 630j..good for around 955mhz FSB, or ~3.6ghz

nicely done.

good to see benchies with different dividers. i wanted to do something similar, but included with the benchmarks would be encoding times..

good job again.

Overall, great job. Label the charts though with what each number means.

Enjoyed the fact that you did memory divider tests, proves the fact that anything less than a 1:1 divider has negligible gains.

its getting too hot internally to function at that speed...[would be my guess]

I have run my E2200 at 3.7ghz a few times, but only on water..otherwise the core temp heats up too fast on the Tuniq and goes into thermal shutdown.

PS- 1.5vcore could be too low after you factor the amount of drooping vcore.
