E4300 is being discontinued, you'll be able to get an E4400 at the current E4300 price I beleive, once the price drops take place. That should be on roughly July 22nd, so maybe a week or so afterwards?

Not sure about any planned drops for E2160. The E2160 appears to be an E4300 with only 1MB of cache (in fact I bet it has 2MB or even 4MB of cache and Intel just disabled everything over 1MB).

I think it really depends on the price difference, and how long you're planning on keeping the chip. You could pay less now for the 2160, and get a quad down the road, or pay more now and upgrade less quickly.

If you still plan on getting the E2160. I think the E2140 will be a better buy. Just OC it!

I have an E2140 arriving tomorrow. Gonna have my way with it, then replace it with an E6750 in August.

I think the e2160 is a better buy because if both are OC to 100%, e2140 will be 400Mhz behind. and for only 13$ difference i think its much more value to the e2160 than the e2140. And I will be getting e2180 when it comes out.

yeah, the extra multi is worth 13 bucks.
1mb more cache (e4300) is generally worth the extra 34 bucks. for gaming anyway.

In some other case i would agree, but e2160 runs cooler and overclocks better and easier than the e4300.

I'll most likely be OC'ing one in a week or so, i'll try to post my results. I just OC'ed my E4300, so we'll see how the E2160 compares, especially in terms of heat.

From what I've seen, the E4300 overclocks far better than the E21*0s.

The e4300 does overclock better than the e21x0s. and even if its 3.3 vs my 3.2, my 2 mb cache makes mine better by a margin.

dont buy yet. wait til price drop then get e4300. its gonna be lower price.
