Default Building brother budget PC - quick check please

Ok so my brother REALLY needs a new pc, he has a Dell laptop 500MHz something or other, but yeah it's reallllyy old and the headphone port is broken and it's just plain $hit.

So I managed to convince him that I will build him a good budget pc, and managed to convince my mum to pay for it xD

Yeah so if anyone could cross check all this stuff so that it would be compatible and ideal, budget is £450.
Thanks

Seeing as you have a little more room in your budget, why not get another gig of RAM?
And maybe a better motherboard if you intend to overclock at all?

Nice build anyway!

EDIT: Actually.. instead of that, you could drop the CRT and get a 17 or 19" for about £100!

maybe if at all possible get 2Gb of RAM and you will also need a OS unless you want to run linux for him. I would also consider getting a DX9 card thats a little cheaper maybe if you need to save $$, you probably won't need a DX10 card for a few years and really the 8600 is just for DX10 features of vista, can't do any good DX10 games, a 8800 atleast is needed for that fromwhat we've seen...Also you probably won't need a floppy drive..

Nah TFT is a no no, has delay, blocky images, ugh, crt all the way, I love my dell 19" black crt

The motherboard will oc the cpu because it has a 800fsb and the mobo supports 1066fsb

Yeah I have a winxp 32bit cd and I can get him a cd key for £30.
I'll see what I can do about the 2gb of ram, any suggestions on what gfx card to get though?

if he isn't a big gamer (like if he only plays WoW or GW like me) this will work:

or this is what I think would be best:

Yeah I'll get the second one, I looked up some benchmarks and it's pretty much perfect for all round gaming really.
Thanks

EDIT: missed the PSU link, but that PSU wouldn't be albe to power the 8600 anyways, single 12V rail on only 12amps... switching cards will help, but you could also to increase the RAM cut the video card ATM, and use the onboard get more RAM and share more to the onboard grafix, Then later get a GFX card
