Ok, time for update. It seems that if I OC FSB more than 255mhz I lose dual-channel on Ram. Also, only 1gig shows up in Bios @ 255+ FSB. With that said, please change Max FSB to 291mhz. Max stable CPU 2.8Ghz, check my sig for CPU-Z validation. No other changes, other than RAM being at DDR2-582. Seeing as I want to run 2gigs of Ram, I'm settling (for now) at 2.45!

got system to boot and run at 3.708 412*9 but would have to run prime95 to stress cpu so would show as 3.708 and then couldnt get validation-was at 1.55v vcore didnt wanna go higher- system still new, let the new wear off and i will push higher lol ![]() just completely redid watercooling system and this is what resulted here are runs prior to the top one http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=258369 http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=258368

Just to sum up my experience...
E2180, P35-ds3l, ddr2-800, x1950pro, WD320gb, wd500gb, maudio revo7.1, 2 Scythe 120mm. so it runs 3.00ghz at a relatively stockish 1.325v. but from there it rams up quite quickly in what it will do. I basically decided what was the highest Vcore i'd run which was about 1.5v (1.485 in windows) and from that i could extract about 3.23Ghz. i dropped to a nice even 3.2ghz and could manage to get it to be stable at a few Voltage points less (1.47v). Not really worth going higher as i couldn't even hit 3.3ghz stable in orthos at 1.53v (very diminishing returns on extra heat). To show it's ramping up...it really would only do 300mhz(3.0-3.3) more with .2V vcore increase. I also played with the multiplier. at 400FSB and 8X on my ds3l i could not get the system to recover from Standby. It'd be nice if others tried to see how their DS3L's respond in standby at the HIGH FSB. It would double boot and reset all the settings. I even tried upping the FSB voltage, and MCH voltage, ram voltage, etc. very strange also would not recover on 9x355. So i just stayed with the 10x320 setup. Ram at 640 (1:1) was pretty lame so i upped it to 3:2 to run 960 (on my ddr800 ram). Timings at 5-5-5-18 (stock mushkin em timings) So everything is nice and stable now (14hours+), and i run an 18.930sec 1M pi. Hope this helps someone out. So glad i did not go with the Athlon 4400+ like i was going to Although a little intimidating at first, OC'ing these chips was a blast. I'll probably keep a look out on the boards for Pencil mods on the DS3L (vdroop is pretty bad), as well as any new budget chips that will come up in the next 6 months (e2200, e2220, any cheaper c2d's). Thanks guys for the help. mark Last edited by mtnickel : 10-22-07 at 11:07 PM |
