I just set up an E2180 for my daughter with the Abit IP35-E board.
__________________I'll put some results together and post back - E2180 - Batch# Q719A014 - Cooling: Air (Zalman 9700) - Motherboard: Abit IP35-E - Bios Version 13 Using Crucial Ballistix Tracers for RAM (Micron D9's). Stock for them is 4-4-4-12 @ 2.2V. We'll see if this holds up with increased FSB though. More to come.

Thanks for the advice on reseating, all. I reseated again, using what seemed like too little AS5 and now my load temps (short fft) are down to 58-59C @ 3 Ghz. Also picked up a CM 690 and it has much better airflow than my old Superlanboy. Still seems high, but the surface of my HyperTX2 is not very good. I think if I lap even just the HSF I can get 366x9 running well @ about 1.4V but it'll be about two weeks before I can as I'm moving apartments.

Yeah, I heated up a needle and put a tiny hole in the cap for my AS5 tube, then put a single ~0.5mm wide line on the heatspreader above the core like the AS5 instructions say to. Temps went down by ~7C over having a line closer to 1mm wide in the same place.
I can't imagine how you'd get the 'proper' tiny amount in the right place on lapped HSF/processors. It would be just a tiny bit. |
