1.50V! Wow, the guys at xtreview apparently managed 3.6GHz with 1.55V and recommended 1.30V for 3.0GHz, looks like you might have gotten a bad batch?

I would go for 3GHz but my ram craps out and with the stock intel cooler I can't really go too much over 1.30V, 1.37V froze my computer 5 seconds after startup until I left it to cool down, so I'm going to wait and hopefully I'll be getting those $50 Mushkins on NCIX along with a nice Arctic Freezer and some AS5 to get to 3GHz, then I'll be happy till the Wolfdales come out.

Who knows. It's par for the course for me. Every CPU I've ever tried to overclock required insane voltage in comparison to other users. Kind of frustrating because I am pretty sure I'm not doing anything "wrong".

Yea, I know what you mean, although I think my problem might not have been the cpu, maybe the memory. When I was installing it I put the stick in the first dimm, which is like half an inch from the cooler, because I can't imagine it overheating at 1.37V. I had my Opty running at 1.41V and I'm getting the same temperatures under load as my 1.28V e2180! I did have a Zalman CNP7000 with some AS5 on the Opty but still! When I get home I'm going to try switching the ram stick into like dimm 4 and see what happens.

It could also be my timings, which are currently 5-5-5-31, I don't know where the 31 came from but I'm going to look into dropping it.

Don't feel bad man, my E2180 took at LEAST 1.5v to be stable at 3.0GHz as well. Now I'm running an E2200 and it needs 1.45v to be 3.0GHz stable. No biggie man, I think the newer E2xxx chips are just not as good as the early retail samples.

Jaggo and vtx. I had added you in the E2140 list. darcness. I had added you in the E2180 list. When can I 'test drive' your E class? Thanks for sharing information.

Is E1200 good? I know E2180 is better than E1200 but just want to know what kind of impact it may has because of its 512k cache.

X-bit labs has a review of the Celeron E1200: Link. They have a E2160 in there so you can kind of get an idea of how a E2180 would compare with a E1200, although it would've been nice for a clock to clock 1MB vs 512KB comparison. The cheapest place I could a E1200 is at Newegg for $59.99 shipped: Link. I think it's worth the extra money for a E2000 series CPU though.
