Linsk. I just let you know that I may give my e2180 to my sister and get e8400 next week. You can remove my rig from the list. I am very happy with e2180. It is the best cpu for budget build. Keep up the good works.

Anyone have the E2180 on the DFI Dk P35-T2RS board? I'm probably going to be ordering this board next week and was curious as to what kind of OCing I should be able to reach!

Ok, guys I have my finger on the trigger...
I want to get a e2180 but I don't want to lose any gaming performance (1680x1050). I searched around looking for a review showing game performance at higher resolutions and I can't seem to find one. I'm thinking I can eBay what I have now and get the CPU and a good budget board (w/ eSata & potential to run a Q6600). DFI Bloodiron, MSI Neo2 look like good options but I don't want to go through all the trouble of swapping out components only to be at the same performance point. I of course plan on finding the MAX 24/7 overclock for my 2180 once I get it. Any and all advise is MUCH appreciated.

I've never seen any benchies on your CPU vs. an e2180, but I get the strong feeling that moving to an e2180 from your CPU would be a side-step at best. I doubt that you'll see any gaming performance increase at the 16x10 resolutions because the differences between your CPU and an e2180 @ 3GHz aren't that huge I believe. I do think that the e2180 would win out by a slight margin--perhaps you'll get a few fps higher in games, but whether that's worth the hassle of swapping out components...it's up to you. Of course if you went to a Q6600... Regarding possible motherboards, the bloodiron is supposed to be great, but I'm not sure if it's worth the money imho. I really like the gigabyte DS3 (or now DS4) boards--since I have one, I must talk mention it, LOL (I think they're great for the price-to-overclocking capabilities). But from what I understand, if you're planning on going dual-graphics cards, you should go with an X38-based board since they support true x16 speeds on both PCI-E slots (as opposed to x16 + x8 like the P35 boards). But the DFI Bloodiron is very popular here (from what I can see), so I'm sure its not a bad choice.
