Hey Lins, my temperatures have changed drastically after reinstalling Vista. We're talking a difference of 40 degrees under full load. I'll get a more accurate work up but if memory serves me I'm sitting at 28-30 degrees at idle and 36-38 degrees under full load at 3Ghz with 1.41v on the vcore in the BIOS at 1.44v in Windows.

I'll also check with XP since they both gave the same readings. Have you heard of anybody else having problems with temperature readings?

Are you using coretemp? If so, what version? I know there is something to do with the Tj max changing between versions.

This was back when I had an E2180, check my posts on this page, hopefully someone can clarify this?

E2140 at 3.2v under 1.4v. I don't see why not. E2140 is fine to do what you said.

Well, the cheap $59 EVGA 650i has a really poor cooler on the NB and nothing on the SB. I'm thinking that in order to get 3.6 or 3.7 stable I will have to purchase the cooler set for these two chips and then try again.

3.4G is a very OC for those new batches of E2180 so enjoy.

I can get 3.5 and 3.6 to post, but now since it's summer time here and my house is a little warmer I can't get stable torture test out of 3.5 anymore. Never was able to get 3.6 stable and 3.5 was a little higher on the volts then I felt comfortable running 24/7.

LiquidKaos, you are running 3.4 at 1.47v. That's pretty good. I'm running 3.4 at 1.52v and I've lapped mine. I could prbly take off the IHS and replace the thermal paste covering the chip, but just not ready for that risk yet. I can't offer to wait on a new one to be shipped if I screw it up.

I finally replaced the stock cooler with CM Hyper TX2 and updated the bios to F13i, and immediately got better results in OC. My system managed to post at 3.5 GHz (389x9) at 1.3625v (MCH +0,1V, FSB +0,1V), but OS wouldn't load. I'm not sure where to go from here. Will boosting vcore alone help?

At the same voltage settings, after lowering the multiplier to 6 I finally managed to pass the 400 MHz FSB. System posted at 422x6. 423x6 posted once too, but never after that. I don't know if this is the CPU's FSB wall, or do I need to do some more voltage tweaking at vcore/MCH/FSB.

XP loads and works normally at 3.1 GHz (345x9). I'm during stability testing now, will update when have more results. Normally I work at rock stable 333x9.

update to my system:
BIOS: F13i
FSB: 333
M. FSB: 422
CSPD: 3000
RAM SPD: 2:3
RAM TM: 5-5-5-14
DDRV: 2.1
Idle Temp: 29/29
Load Temp: 51/51
Comments: CM Hyper TX2
