I recently got a new e2180 batch L820A141. It ran 3.5 great. So I decided to lap it and since I have two I took the risk and removed the IHS lapped the inside of it also and reaplied new paste. Put it back in and didn't notice any differance in the chip. Was very disapointed. Then I remembered you saying 1333 was a sweet spot. So I lowered to 1333. WOW, huge drop in vcore and slightly better temps.

Here are the new spec compared to my old:

NEW ----------- OLD
FSB: 333.25 ----------- 350
CSPD: 3332.5 ---------- 3500
NB: 1.25v default ---------- 1.45v
CoreV 1.376 ---------- 1.52
Temps 56/56 ---------- 58/58

Temps didn't really change, but I like the nice low Vcore and low NB volts. I can also safely run TAT and not worry about overheating. At 1.52 vcore TAT hit the 70's pretty quickly.

Lapping didn't increase my top out range, but it did change how low I could set thingsat a modest FSB.

Just for record when I was running 3.0Ghz it took 1.42vcore and 1.45v on NB.
