batch # Q740A523

$189.99 from MicroCenter.

Found someone with this batch, and its slightly less friendly (even thought hey all overclock great from what i've read)

Just for the sake of keeping a batch list, this is one of them. Unfortunately i had to RMA my board, and i wont be overclocking untill next week. But i think this topic should be kept going. I also have lots of message boards bookmarked where batch numbers and speeds are thrown around. So i'll post up what i've found.

I love my batch
Q743A748 dated 01/04/08

Currently running stable at 4.13GHz on 1.3375V/1.296V BIOS/CPUZ
Could run 4.3GHz on 1.40V/1.36-1.38V BIOS/CPUZ
Higher than that and heat becomes a problem...
otherwise I define stable as 1 hour Orthos CPU stress.

When you guys post voltages, do you use CPUZ after Vdrop or just BIOS settings?

Defintitely use the BIOS setting. More accurate than any software program I've ever seen. Also, try for a longer stresstest. I've had my PC's do P95 for 6 hours stable, but the seventh hour it would crash.......

Thanks for the info!!

Nope. Unfortunately, I think 4.5ghz would need well over 1.45vcore with this chip. I might go there in a couple weeks if it seems these chips can take it, but I've read about too many guys getting degradation over 1.4v - meaning within like a week at high voltage they start to lose stability.

I'm not saying it's true yet, but like I said I want to wait and see how it all shakes out. If in a month tons of these chips get fried over 1.4v, I'll keep it at a cozy 4ghz 1.35vcore and close the case.

The batch code for my E8400 is Q746A519. I've only gotten it up to 3.6 without a voltage increase, and I'm sure it can go a lot further, I just haven't really played around with it yet because of my ****ty memory.
