people are WAY too obsessed with Pack dates, batch #'s and VID's
either you get get a good overclocking CPU or you dont of course there is kind of a timeline between bad and good clockers

They definitely look the best in terms of acheiving 4.0 GHZ OC at low voltage (which is usually a good sign for maximum overclock)

CPU Batch:Q744A761
__________________Specs are below, I've used my 4GB G.Skill and 2GB Buffalo kits with similar results. I can't seem to boot up at 4GHZ using less than 1.43V (b4 droop) which I hear is potentially dangerous on air cooling? I managed to run 3DM06 @ 4.3GHZ but Orthos, Prime and OCCT all failed very quickly so immediately changed back. Any suggestions/comments much appreciated. There are a couple benchmark results below, at this point I am really thinking my motherboard is holding me back from higher speeds with this CPU, I was able to hit 1975 FSB with my E6750. ![]() ![]() I stopped Orthos before work this morning and didn't have time to take screens but here is my update, on to 3.95 next.

I dunno, perhaps a bad chip?? You could try upping your NB volts and your VTT, or maybe try working with your RAM some more. Good luck and post back with any progress or questions. Thanks for the info, Updated!!

I am curious about the T at the end of some E8400 batch numbers? Most of the Canadian sold cpu's have the T, like my Q740A555T. Some posters in Austrailia, Greece and Italy also have T batch numbers, but mainly from Canada. Perhaps T is for tested? I had two E8400 with the T and both had scratches and marks on the back of the cpu where it had obviously been installed in a m/b (hopefully at Intel). My cpu's were retail units in a sealed Intel box. Or perhaps the T was used in early batches? My pack date is 12/20/07.
Any ideas about the T and why most cpu's don't have it? |

Well guys I read enough, I am jumping off the 45nm bandwagon and getting a Q6600 G0 for now, atleast I wont have to worry about it as much as I do for this chip. Possibly today when I get off work, I will try to find the highest OC with stock volts, and keep it there.
