This is good to know, but it's not really a big deal because they still overclock very well below 1.36v.

Lets not overlook the efficiency of the chips as well. Just because you cant hit the same Mhz or volts as a 65nm doesnt mean these chips are dogs ! LOL
3.6Ghz 45nm > 3.6Ghz 65nm

All that mumbo jumbo about voltages is lame. They shouldn't have 2 limits. If the chip can be damaged below 1.45, the max should be published as 1.36 and not 1.45

Even if Intel did say 1.45v was safe, I wouldn't believe them. Such a voltage on a the type of 45nm process they are using defies logic and comon sense, as well as recent experiences by many.

Where's my /b/?

Anything besides air cooling will now be excessive for 45nm CPUs.

As long as my CPU lasts 2 years i don't care, because thats all the longer i am gonna use it.

That's not quite true. People using active cooling solutions will still get benefits due to their subzero temps.

Honestly, do people never get satisified? 4.0 to 4.3GHz on AIR and with less than 1.45V, that's guarenteed, but it's not good enough because you hitting the same frequency with $500 phase change on a already slower clock-for-clock processor is more satisifying?
