I have p5n-e q6600.I have tried everything to get past 1199fsb and nothing worked.then I found this post changed my bios from 0803 to 0608 and first try booted in windows @ 3.0ghz. so I just wanted to say thanx.
Finally managed to create a USB boot up and downed the BIOS to 0608 - got to 3.0GHz first pop - Cheers

Can't get it past 3.0 though... temps are around 34 at idle might try dropping the rating of my memory (4GB OCZ Reaper HPC), it seems to hang on the memory every time I try to go past 3.0

I have the same heatsink chief and the only way to remove the old heatsink is to take out the motherboard I'm afraid. You have to pinch the plastic hooks to remove them and the Asus heatsink.

Nice one chief, so glad to hear of another successful overclock. Without performing a vdroop mod on the motherboard, I'd stick with 3.0Ghz. I've tried many many combinations and its never stable for long enough because of the vdroop problem with the board.

Okay, so I managed to get 3Ghz. Is there any way I can raise my ram's clock now? It's at 667, form it's default 800. Also.. I could've sworn I blew something on my mobo. Everytime I turn on the power supply now I hear this kind of hissing/high pitched whirring noise. Other than that, it's pretty stable.

And like everybody else, I was using 0803 before. God that's a horrible bios.

Also, in previous posts people wanted to see howlow the vcore can go.

My G0 Q66 is doing 3ghz right now at 1.25. VID 1.225.

First off I wanted to say thanks for all the useful information on the forum.

Now, I have tried to load bios 608 but I keep getting a error message saying can now downgrade bios. Is there a way around this? I followed the guide to a T till the point.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yeah it's not the best for fan support. I have my cpu, northbridge and southbridge heatsinks plugged in to the board and the chassis fans disconnected so they are just running without being monitored.

Quite shocking this board with Quad Core overclocking, pwnage for the 65nm duals, even seen a number of E8400's running at 4ghz on this board. Thats almost maxing out the FSB though. Shame it can't really hack it with the quads.

In light of that, I'd prolly jump on a E8400 if I where going to upgrade bar that, wait for the next socket.

Well i was trying to get the Q6600 so i flashed the BIOS, and downgraded it to 0608 from 9 whatever it was. After it had finished the screen just went black i waited for some time then gave up waiting. I decided to reboot the PC. The only thing that happened was the there was no beep and the fans were just running the screen was just black and not even on I figure i am prety much ****ed

Update: tried shutting the power off and replugging stuff. It booted up but its stuck on the boot screen. It gets a weird after a while like it gets pixlated or the colors go all wrong...
