I left my timing on auto when I try to boot with 9 multipliers but I get BSD every time right when desktop shows. It doesn't even stay on for 1 second before BSD. I did read about the pencil mods but I don't think it is a heat issue since I can't even boot to my desktop.

The pencil mod is not for heat, it is for vdroop, the quad cores use a lot of power and load the mobo's phases, the mod will help stabalize the voltage going to the cpu. (very simple procedure)
I can give you my stats to get to 3.4ghz when I'm home if you like. it is a lot easyer than to get to 3 ghz. Do you have the new or older version of this mobo?? (check cpu-z)

Cool, thanks for the info. I will try it out this weekend.

Yes, if you don't mind I would like to check out your stats. How do you know what board you have. Mine does say rev is A2 and model is 1.xx.

You're going to have to do pencil mod first, see here :
http://resources.vr-zone.com/Shamino/asus650/26.jpg
When done I'll give you all setting for 3.42ghz.

yes generally coretemp.
do you use 7/24 or is this a record test?
many users recommend 6phase or higher for q6600 extreme o.c. and at this forum many p5n-e sli users say "hit! 3ghz" q6600 on this mobo but you increased it to 3.4 very high o.c. for this mobo.
