alright just installed a new e8400 into the rig in my sig. Temperatures are my concern here. My cores in core temp 0.97 are reading 39c at idle for both, while the temp for the cpu are reading as 44 in everest. Why would my cores read cooler than the temps for the actual cpu? My e6700 used to read 37 idle for the cores, mid 20's for the actual cpu. Under orthos, they are reading 41 cores, 57 cpu. Everything is stock and auto for now. Should I worry, or just worry about my core temps? This really makes me want to get a fan controller with temp readings.

my 680i is killing me on overclocking. if you notice the voltage takes a huge jump at 4.4. and that is what i enter into the bios.

Well the chip arrived yesterday with all the rest of the system, longest system build ever, but took my sweet time running wires and such. And then 8 hr's of software crap I own way to many games. But so far this thing ROCKS, general CPU temp is 31 degrees and under gaming load highest I have seen is 42 and thats on a arctic cooling 7 pro.

I don't know how to get any sort of accurate readings.

Anyway, currently I'm running at 3.4Ghz

I can run it at 3.6 but I have to up the NB VTT and NB voltage a lot. I haven't messed with GTL but once I have some more time to do additional research and tweaking, I'll keep it at 3.4. Oh, SuperPi beats my Q6600 at 3.6 byt almost a full second.

All in Vista Home Premium 64.
