Hey guys,
I got a Pentium D for awhile and I want to overclock him. It's an Pentium D 950 @3,4Ghz. I prefer to do it whit any tool, because I never overclocked a Pentium D, so I don't want to do it in the bios. My system specs are: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-8I945PM-RH ( an old one). Proccesor: Pentium D 950 @ 3,4Ghz. RAM: DDR2 Corsair PC2-5300, 667Mhz. GPU: Nvidea 8800GTS PCI-express x16 640MB. OS: Dual-boot Windows xp 32-bit SP2 & Windows Vista 64-bit SP1. I tried an tool from Gigabyte, but both didn't work, one didn't support my motherboard and the other opens, but then crash and don't do anything. I hope someone knows an other option, so I can still overclock him. PS: I used the 'search' option but didn't found an other topic, sorry, if there was an other topic. Thanks in advance. Greets, Biert |

Make sure you have good cooling. Pentium Ds run super hot.

Thanks for the reply. I know Pentium D gets really hot, I have a good cooling. I don't want it in the bios anymore because I forgot how to do it, I did it before whit a Pentium 4 and it worked. The tool which came whit my motherboard, I don't have it, that's what I was searching for but, didn't worked. Thanks for the tools, I will try them right now. I was first thinking of buying a new CPU, something like a C2D. But after all, Pentium D isn't that bad, and works great whit my system. Edit: the software link you gave me, don't support my motherboard. Last edited by biert : 03-30-08 at 01:45 PM |

Never do a software overclock when you can do it in the bios. Google something like "Gigabyte GA-8I945PM-RH overclock guide"

If you lost the software that came with your mobo, download it here: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/M...lity_List.aspx

Easytune 5 keeps crashing, I open it, it shows fast a window, then it turns off and it's gone, I can try him on Windows Vista. |
