Default *~A Tale Of A Lapped Q6600 & Tuniq Tower (PICS!)~*

Well I got bored, and fed up with temps on my Q6600 that has a wretched VID of 1.350... So heres what I did.

Setting up...

Before.....

Marked.....

Mid 800 Grit....

Done 800 Grit....

Done 1000 Grit....

Done 1500 Grit....

Results 1500 Grit....

Results After 2000 Grit (Final!)....

Tuniq Revision... I started it along time ago, but never finished... this is as far as I felt like slaving... But it shows the proper hand technique to lap a Tuniq with.

TT Setup...

Hand Placement....

Lapping Position....

TT Lapping Results....

And finaly, Idle temps @ Stock with Uncured AS5 and 1.200 Volts VCore BIOS...

Wow. Really nice job and thanks for the pics! I have a Tuniq T120 on the way and may give it a shot. I'm not brave enough to take on my CPU, but man yours turned out great. BTW, you could be a hand model.

I decided not to go mirror-finish on my TRUE and Q6700 when I lapped them last night but those pics kinda make wish I did...not that it would do anything for me practically but it sure looks pretty!

How much did your temps drop? Mine droped a good amount. I think it was something like 7 to 8c or more.

That pretty much makes me want to lap my E2180 due to a brutal VID of 1.325.

Very nice work.

Note, I tried to take the base off, lets just say, she wouldnt allow it to the point that if tried to take it off any harder, it would have broken my TT.
