That'd be a 480FSB, which is tough to get stable on any rig. I haven't determined if the instability I hit over 460FSB is due to the chip, my DIMMs, or my MCH... but as this is a work rig I can't take too many risks trying to find out

3.4 - 3.5ghz vs 3.5 - 3.6 ghz are we really going to notice any speed difference? maybe shave a few seconds off Super Pi

if you get your q3000 to 3.4 GHZ stable... is any app or game out there going to bring your rig to its knees because its not 3.6Ghz?

interesting... new version of CoreTemp reports my chips VID as 1.1625v, whereas the last version reported 1.05v... I guess that was just too good to be true.

I can't trust auto voltage not to over volt so I'm doing most of it manually. Within the next few weeks I will then start to OC my RAM from 1066 to 1100 then 1133.
I've already got my eVGA 8800GT 1GB AKIMBO 3-Phase to do 760/1900/1050 so that is good to go. Temps at load are kinda high around 73C but I'm sure I can get them down too. Keep up the great work!

Hey Tek, are you cranking up the heat sink fan on your card when you OC it? I've been using the EVGA precision tool lately to control the fans and clock speeds. You don't get as much control as you would with rivatuner, but its convenient to use. Last night I forgot to turn up the fan, and it got up to 87 degrees!!!

Nice to see people making some progress with the q9300. I still need to work on mine so more.

I would highly recommend enabling CPU thermal control (just in case) and disabling C1E (for better stability).

also, that's *mad* low vcore--I'm running 0.15v more than you. Why not go for a higher OC than your 3GHz? With a lapped zalman 9700 you should be able to get to ~3.4GHz with no trouble.

As far as I can tell not to much of a differance, then again I have had trouble finding anything that makes my system lag. I just want to get to 3.5Ghz+ to get the Q6600 Nazis off the case of the Q9300. No mater what they say the Q9300 vs the Q6600 at the same speed, the Q9300 will win. Just because it OCs higher isn't a good enough reason for me to get it. Its like saying an OCed AMD chip is better than its equal Intel sister chip. I call rant rant rant!

I fond my heat issue was with lack of AC in the house at the time. I'm now at 69C with load while OCed. Mind you, I don't keep my GPU OCed all the time. It's fast as hell as it is, and I play nothing that even needs it OCed. I'm a believer in "KISS" and if there is no need for it don't do it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frame_rate

So if I can get a steady 30-60FPS I'm a happy camper!

I guess I could but I'm still trying to go as low as I can at 3.0Ghz. But I'm going to take your suggestion on the BIOS settings. Thanks.
