Your Cpu voltage is wayyyyyy too high though. My 9300 is clocked at 3.0 ghz with core voltage at 1.248. What mobo are you using? It would help to put your system specs in your signature or profile. Your bios Vcore settings should show different color schemes and I am just hazarding a guess that you are way in the red. Just by glancing at the first post in this forum you can see most people have their voltage under 2. Try dropping it down to 1.3 and see if that is stable, if it works try 1.275 and keep dropping it incrementally. I may be way out to lunch and confusing your voltage reading, but 2.275 seems ridiculously high. If I am confused about this, I am receptive to being corrected. Good luck.

Oops. The 2.275 was a typo. My actual Voltage set in BIOS is 1.275. Sorry about that. Looking at the OCCT chart, the voltage it measures is about 1.248 starting out, but drops within 1.195 and 1.177 during the actual test.

My computer specs are:
CoolerMaster vented case with 5 120mm fans (lots of air flow)
Corsair 750W PSU
ASRock 4Core1600P35-WiFi+ motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 2.5GHz CPU
Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU cooler
2x2GB OCZ Reaper HPC DDR2 PC2 8500 RAM
2x Western Digital Caviar 640 GB SATAII HDD
EVGA 512MB GeForce 8800 GT video card
Pioneer 20X SATAII DVDRW

Thanks a lot for your input.

Are you using the stock cpu fan/heatsink that came with the chip or aftermarket ?

Hi I just joined this forum. I have never overclocked before and would like some help. I've just ordered a GA-P35C-DS3R (£22.50), my Asus P5E3 broke and I had sold my Foxconn 975x7ab. I got the motherboard only to last me until Nehalem came out. I also have sold my qx6700 (£160) to upgrade to a q9300 (£95) . Made some profit too. I have also bought a cooler master m850 (£55) coming to replace my recently sold Tagan TG800-U25. Main reason was I wanted a psu with 8 pin pcie and modular for good air flow. Then I sold my 3870cf setup before they got worthless, then got myself a 3850 (£32.50) and luckily for me, he took ages to deliver, and said he would compensate me by sending a brand new 4850 when it comes in stock. Hope he keeps his word.

Anyway, let me get to the point, will I be able to run the q9300 on stock cooling at 3ghz without much temperature increase. I would have bought an OCZ Vendetta 2 but with the upcoming socket change, I don't want to spend any money on cooling that I might not use again. Will I need to increase any voltages to run it at 3ghz? Will it be possible for me to run my ram and cpu at 1:1 .

Hey everyone, I just built my first rig with the q9300 and a Asus P5Q mobo. I have been looking online for a week for a profile of someone OCing with my mobo and CPU but I can't find one anywhere! I've looked on here, Google, the Asus forums. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Hey all,
Looks like I have a lot of updating to do now that I'm back from vacation. Took a few weeks to travel to California (Bay Area, Sacramento) and visit the wifes side of the family. When I go on vacation I don't do computer stuff so It might seem like I drop off the face of the earth, when really I'm just out enjoying it. Hope you are all doing well, talk to you soon and I will update mroe after I sleep and get up.

teK

P.S. California traffic SUCKS! 45min to go less that 3 miles just because some guy is on the side of the road changing a tire. I wanted to at least see a dead body for a wait like that. Meh @#$!@#!~!!!!11!!1!!!

Default voltages

Hi,

was wondering what voltages you guys are giving your components..
I'm trying to set my voltages manually, but not too sure where to start
What I did, was to set what I could set 2 steps beyond stock minimum - except North Bridge- and DRAM voltage.

My voltages;

CPU PLL Voltage
FSB Termination Voltage
North Bridge Voltage
South Bridge Voltage
