I have the same board that you do.

I had thought about getting a Q9550 later, but did not want to spend but so much on a new cpu, and got the Q9300. I wish I had stuck to my original plan now. However, this cpu is at 3.2GHz (427fsb). It is currently at 1.2375 volts in bios, and ran 29 hours small ffts in prime95 with no errors, and then 24 hours large ffts with no errors. The vid is 1.2125.

Any lifespan reduction on this cpu with the voltage bump I'm using should be minimal I hope. The box says 1.25v max.

edit to add: I have the same case as you do also.

Core 0 is always hotter than the other ones on this cpu. Right now at idle they are 42,32,35,34. Okay now I'm running the small fft option in prime again, and right now they are at 58,51,50,50. When I use the Intel burn test program, the cores are closer together in temps. It is normally around 5 to 7 degrees difference among them (core 0 compared to the others).

Okay, I'm running the intel burn test program now, and the temps are 59,53,54,54
I'm thinking that the sensor for core 0 might not be accurate.

My Q9300 still kicks A$$! Still happy I got it.
I'll be back in to post some new OCing stuff.

I'm impressed with this little q9300. Stable 50% oc is ok in my books.

hiya, Arcane... Welcome to OCN and q9300...

"where to start.." before starting any overclocking you need to make sure your machine in stable (various tests listed) and that you have adequate cooling, you don't list your CPU cooler in your profile..is it the stock intel one?
