So how are you liking your Q9300? Do you have any plans on OCing? Have you updated your Mobo BIOS to P4? Sorry so many questions but I'm looking for people that can prove that the Q9300 equal if not better than the Q6600. So far me and a friend with just about the same setup have found that my Q9300 is always slightly better than the Q6600. He is running the Q6600 on the Maximus with DDR3 and Ati 3870 x2. But more to come on that... And yes we are testing @ stock and 3.0Ghz.
So far it's been great. I've already OC'd it to 3.3, and plan to continue pushing it as far as I can get it. I've read that 3.4-3.5 is the sweet spot for this chip, and getting it to go much past that is going to be tough because of the low multiplier. Keep in mind that this is on water. Me personally, I wouldn't try this on air but to each his own.
Yeah bios is p04

Haven't done too much benchmarking yet, but was able to squeeze out a little over 1700 on 3D Mark 06 yesterday. Not too shabby I guess.
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=6690121

I'll get into the bios and post my settings tonight for anyone that wants to see them.

I expect you should have no trouble getting at least close to 3.5 on water. I wouldn't push that far on air, but my 3.375 GHz is nice and cosy with good air cooling. Whether you get 3.5 is probably just going to depend on your particular chip and mobo. I know mine would post at 3.562 (475 FSB) at 1.3525 volts, but wouldn't get into windows. At 3.45GHz I could get into windows, but my temps were uncomfortably high so I shut down prime95 right away and reduced vcore. It wasn't stable at the lower vcore so I went to my current OC, which is stable at least down to 1.275v.

OK I read your post and you said water cooling is better I suspect? I just bought this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118020
and I also have this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103029

and I want to O/C my cpu. Out of these 2 which one should I use? I haven't tried the zalman yet but I've been reading and some said it's good with their q6600 up to 3.6 ghz so that's why i bought it. But if it's no good I still have a chance to return it for a refund. So any comment are welcome. Both of these are pretty big and take a lot of room especially the cooler master which the fan and radiator is mounted on the inside of the case. I was thinking of modifying this liquid cooling kit, mount it on the outside and use it to cool down the northbridge. But I'm not sure how to go about it.
Any help is much appreciated.

I have this. It is the solid copper version. I don't know what the diff in temp would be from copper to the Aluminum & Copper one that you are looking at. It's also cheaper...

As for water cooling... I might give that a go in the future and would most likely get the cooler Master version to go with my case, God knows I have enough room for it.

My NB is also running hot and I am looking at ways to keep it cool, until then I'm keeping my speed at 3.0Ghz.

Water is generally going to produce lower temps than air, yes. I'm not specifically familiar with either of the coolers you posted, but I'm sure others around here are and would be able to comment.

Whether you "need" to go to water cooling depends on what your goals are. I'm doing just fine on a tuniq tower at 3.375GHz, but if I wanted to break 3.4GHz I'd probably need to go to water.

And as for a NB cooler, I use the Thermaltake Extreme Spirit II on my P5N-E and have been very happy with it. Or you can just stick a 60mm fan or something on your board. Even just pulling off the stock cooler and replacing the stock TIM with AS5 would help.
