Hi Everyone,

New to the furms. Decided to start to push the limits of my current Q9300system. I've been successful with my GPU and have seen significant gains, but am struggling getting my CPU up past very minor gains.

Looking forward to unwravelling the great advice found in this thread.

what do you call minimal gains....? Seems 3Ghz is dead easy...higher gets tricky, 2.5>3 is not imo minimal, so where are you?

I have only been able to get my FSB Clock up to 350 x7.5 (2.625 GHz) before various cores start failing under stress tests (Prime95) and full out BSOD at 356 FSB.

I have a feeling that it is the voltage settings causing me problems because my CPU temps are almost the same at idle speed, although from what I read, voltage settings typically do not need to be changed until you are closing in on 3.0 GHz...

Welcome RonindeBeatrice, and Bloodrush.

I too have been having trouble getting back up to 3.0Ghz now that I am running Vista x64 Ultimate. She just isn't stable. I even tried to raise the VCore and is was still unstable. It's not getting to hot, it's just randomly restarts. It never did this with WinXP x64. Still trying to figure this one out.

I'm finally beginning my push to up my q9300.

Anyways, when looking for some processor specs I came across this when trying to find some thermal specs...

Random tidbit.

/end of line.

though the cores are failing...have you tried with just 2 sticks of ram, at the correct voltage?

Hey new to the club ( Hope I'm welcome :P)...Whenever I try and go above 2.9 ( Want to get to 3.0Ghz) I get long beeps coming form my motherboard and it resets the speeds of RAM, CPU etc...I'm guessing this is a failsafe recovery method ? I have the CPU @ 1.20 Volts.. Any idea on how i can get to 3.0ghz without my Mobo freaking out?
