If you look at all the people @ 3.0Ghz you will see most that their voltage up past 1.2v Try 1.28+v and give it a go. Let us know what happens.

Hey, I put it up to 1.30 Volts and tried 3.0Ghz again...The Mainboard accepted which got me excited but then at the windows loading bar it froze. I reset the comp and tried again...No luck.. I'm now at 2.9 Ghz + 1.20 Volts and it seems ok (Btw I can only go up and down by 0.5 Volts in BIOS) Going to run prime95 for the night to see how things go. Cheers for the tips. If you have any more ideas , they would be appreciated.

Started wandering around Google looking for tech specs prior to me tweaking and found this on Intel's site.

It's a little too lengthy to print and keep on the back of my toilet, but it is an education read if you wish to understand just what makes our processor tick.

Hope this helps.

This is a good point. I'll try this tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Thanks for the suggestion.

I ran prime95 for 12 hours... All good So I'm stable at 2.9Ghz but I can't boot at 3Ghz ?..Interesting. I really hate to ask such a noob question but I am relatively new to this. Tek when you said raise the voltage was that the CPU FSB or the Cpu core ?

GardenPest,

Are you able to change the clock speeds in your bios, or are you doing with with SW after? The evga bios on my 790i only lets me change voltage in the bios and I have to do clock speeds with the Nvidia control panel in windows (its a pain).

Hey! Yeah I'm able to change the FSB (for CPU) , Memory timings and bandwidth etc. There should be an option to change the FSB in Frequency/ Voltage control in the bios. It's at the top right? These are my BIOS, might be different with yours, although they probably aren't.Bios havent been changed much since the 680i. Hope this helps

DO you have the memory and FSB unlinked?

Also I have the same Mem as you make sure it's set to 5-5-5-15-2T and manualy put it at 2.1v. and FSB to 1.2v

Hope it helps.
