Default Noob OC'er help me do it right!

I got my cpu up to 3.2 ghz by doing 320mhz x 10 multiplier but it failed orthos...

really not sure how to do all the voltages and stuff so I left it on auto.

If anyone can help me out and tell me what to change in bios for a stable OC I would be very greatful. Giving reps as well

trying to go for 3.0 ghz w/ 4 4 4 12 timings on my ram.

im on stock cooling.

Stock cooling... You might have heat issues at speeds that high.

you might want to check your voltages on your cpu & ram. whenever you overclock, auto isnt usually the best place to put em on.

i'm assuming you have the gskill 2x1gb ddr2-800 hz's? (the ones with the black heatsinks)
if so your ram is rated to run between 2.0v ~ 2.1v so set your ram accordingly. somewhere inbetween

Edit: gibsonnova74's got it right with the voltages

make sure you turn off c1e & eist; you'll get a more stable overclock on your rig

i'm following all of this, but everytime I change anything it just restores back to auto?

I put 333mhzx9 and when I save and exit then open up cpu-z it shows up as 1.8mhz 200x9

I restart open up bios again and everything is set to auto on MIT

your saving then exiting bios right?

edit: is your rig trying to start up, then turning off like 3 times in a row. then it starts up in stock settings. if thats the case, the o/c isn't stable enough to enter windows, and it reverts back to stock settings.

yeah saving then exiting.

my rig shut downs once, then starts up again. I'll try lowering the mhz.

could it be the voltages?
