Default Calling all E7200 owners: Dual core processors by intel

Here is the specs for the Dual Core processors by Intel.

Intel Pentium E2160 Allendale 1.8GHz/ 800FSB / 1MB L2 Cache / 65 nm -$67 2.8 - 3.2GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 Allendale 2.4GHz/ 800FSB / 2MB L2 Cache / 65 nm -$120 3.0 - 3.4GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz / 1066FSB / 2MB L2 Cache / 65nm -$155 2.6 - 3.0GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz / 1066FSB / 3MB L2 Cache / 45nm -$132 GHz?
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz/ 1333FSB /6MB L2 Cache /45nm -$195 4.0Ghz+

The question is: What are the benefits of getting each processor? Where will they be seen, other than benchmarks. I plan to OC each to an acceptable level.
Also, what are the average OCs for each?

e2160 = Give or take 3
e4600 = Around 3.2-3.4 (if you're lucky)
e6300 = 3.2ish
e8400 = 3.8 give or take

E2160 is budget chip should get 2.8 - 3.2
E4600 should beable to achieve 3.0 - 3.4
E6300 2.6 - 3.0
E8400 is achieving well over 4.0 even 4.3

The E8400 will be best for gaming because it's intel new 45nm technology where the others are 65nm tech and will run slightly hotter

Regarding the OC, others said it. Make sure you have good air cooling method especially for E6300. You should consider to add E7200 to the list.

Ok. I added it. How far will it OC on average?

With those OC, should I basically choose the E2100 or the E7200 based on clock speeds and price. How much of a difference will the Cache size make?

You meant E2200? Regarding the cache, here is a review. E7200 is a Penryn ship/45nm that has half size of cache like big bro -E8xxx has. With proper cooling, it should be around 3.8G but make sure keep the vcore under 1.36v.

Ok. Great. I think Im going with the E7200. That review on TomsHW was interesting. It showed that there was performance benefits in places other than benchmarks.

Would this mobo OC the 7200 well? What other ones are good in that price range (<$100)
or should I get this?

You're going to want the p35, opposed to the p31

The EP35-DS3L is an excellent board, and overclocks well.

No rushing. We got several E7200 owners here. Wait them for more inputs. P31/35 belong to Bearlake chipset so it would supprot 45nm but ge the EP35-D3L to max the E7200.
