1.46v won't even take me to 3.2Ghz.
![]() I've upped everything. I've lowered everything. But it always fails as soon as I start Prime95.

Have you tried lowering the multi and going for a higher FSB?

.Make sure you use HWMonitor to get the proper temperature too (It reads the TjMax at 100*C) - Or just use 'delta to TjMax and make sure you keep it above 20*C.

I've been working with it for a while now, and it doesn't want to run anything over 3.1Ghz at 1.44v.
And I don't want to give it any more vcore because the next notch up has it idling at 1.49v. Do you think it's safe to have it idle at 1.49v 24/7? Any other suggestions?

I've been priming 315x10 1.44v for about 13 minutes and so far it looks stable.
Edit: It's not stable. It failed after 18 minutes. 345x9 is still my highest. I just hate how if I have the vcore set to 1.505v in the BIOS, in Windows it's 1.47v idle and 1.44v load, but if I bump it up to 1.5125v (the next step) it shoots up to 1.49v idle and 1.46v load.

The pencil mod for the DS3L will fix that. Only took me 5 minutes to get it to the right lead level for no voltage drop. Made my Q6700 run a lot more stable at low volts. At stock volts (1.3250 VID) I am stable with 3.2GHz.
Edit: Before pencil mod I had to have atleast 1.44v to be stable at 3.2GHz. I had a .07 vdroop also!

Intel Overclocker

I have one of the newer batches of 2180's with the 1.325 VID and I can hit 2.4 on stock but any further yields instability. At 3Ghz I have to pump in 1.44v but can't really do that reliably until I check the surface of my heatsink. I'm getting some insane temperatures running a lower vcore that others with lower performance heatsinks.
Anyway, be happy that you can overclock your processor. Anything above stock is considered a gift in my books.
