Default Screwed By Intel
I feel like I've been royally screwed by Intel because I've now gotten two 65nm chips in a row with a 1.325v VID, first my Q6600 and now an E2180. I'm so pissed right now.

Uh, yeah it does. Lower vid = less voltage needed to run at a given clock = better clocks once you reach the voltage wall.

It seems all the chips Intel is shipping out now have horrendously high VID's. Sad, really.

Bad luck for you, my E7200 with one of the worst VIDs still hits 4.2Ghz with less then 1.4v


It doesn't guarantee that it will be a bad overclocker just the chances of it needing more power increase.

I think having a 45nm with a high VID is better than a 65nm with a high VID.

Your chip might have a high base voltage but how do you know it will need a lot of voltage to get to its max OC?
