Question Help OC E6600 past 2.85 GHz please!

Hi I am trying to OC my E6600 to at least 3.0 GHz. Stock is 2.4GHz as im sure you all know. I have successfully OC'd the processor to 2.85 Ghz at 1.325 Vcore and runs stable. However when I try to OC it past 2.85 GHz it makes it to the Windows load screen and either immediately crashes prior to loading at all (BSOD Blue Screen Of Death) or loads for a second or two and then either freezes on the load screen or does BSOD again. I am extremely new to OC, however I believe I have the basic fundamentals. My PC specs are as follows (obtained from Everest):

CPU Type DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, 2850 MHz (9 x 317) (Vcore 1.325)

Motherboard Asus Striker Extreme (2 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 3 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Dual Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394)

Motherboard Chipset nVIDIA nForce 680i SLI

System Memory 2048 MB (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM) (Timings at 4-4-4-12 and 2.2v)

DRAM:FSB Ratio 3:2

Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX (768 MB)

Audio Adapter Creative CA20K1 X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity Audio Processor

Disk Drive NVIDIA STRIPE 1.81T (1863 GB) (4 500Gig drives in Stripe 0)

I think I have given you all relevant info. I do know for sure that its not overheating, my CPU temp is 29C and my MB temp is 36C. Also most of my BIOS settings are set to default.

I am requesting the help of the experts here to push through my 2.85 Ghz limit. I know I can easily get to 3.0 in terms of heating not being an issue. It just seems I should be able to get to that and more considering most people with this processor get average 3.2. THank you in advance.

Give it move voltage, but make sure you monitor those temps.

I run 2:3 ratio and its fine. 1.1 doesn't do to much difference I have been told.

How much more voltage would you recommend. I read taking it up a notch or two is how your suppose to do. And I tried it one notch, and two notches, but still same effect. Should I take it up a good amount, like 1.36 or .38 maybe even 4? and give it a go?

Also I will try the 1:1 first, Loosen the timings to 5-5-5-15? or is it 5-5-5-16? I forgot.

sometimes the memory cant handle the higher clocks (happened to me once..) just trying to eliminate the factors for things to go wrong

Well I run 1001 with 5-5-5-15 timings. A 1.1 ratio might have been good for older Intel cpus. But with these core 2 duos Its better to run the ram the fastest way possible. This is what I have been told so dont hold it against me if its not 100% accurate. Also he has a Nvidia chipset so he doesnt have memory multipliers to get a ratio easily like the intel chipsets. So a 1.1 ram ratio on a 680i running DDR2 800 would be a 1600 FSB.

Do you have an aftermarket cooler?

Trust me, in most cases that stock cooler won't help you with such a large overclock...

Yes I have an after market air cooler. I have the ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm on the cpu as well as 6 Thermaltake A2018 120mm placed throughout the case (4 on the side, 1 in the front, and 1 on the top).

An update, I changed my ram to 5-5-5-15 and also increased the vcore to 1.4 and and did a 1:1 ratio and still cannot get past the 2.85 ghz. Get the BSOD on windows loading

Should I try the 2:3 ram setting? Any other suggestions?
