i know there must be hundreds of people asking about this and i'm still going through your threads but i'll ask anyway and i'll see what happens.
Obviously i want you know how to overclock a Q9450 onto a Evga 790i board without turning it into a brick. i've never overclocked anything before so if anyone who has done this and had it work wonderfully can refer me to a site specifically for q9450 onto evga790i boards it would be great. the relevant system specs are: Cpu -Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Processor - 2.66GHz, 12MB Cache, 1333MHz FSB, Yorkfield Board - EVGA 790i ultra sli motherboard Ram -OCZ Dual Channel Platinum 4096MB PC12800 DDR3 1600MHz DDR3 Memory Fan -Ultra / ChillTec / Socket 939/775/AM2 / Thermal Electric CPU Cooler PSU -OCZ / GameXStream / 850-Watt / ATX / 120mm Fan / SATA-Ready / SLI-Ready / Active PFC / Power Supply these are supposed to be compatible but most games need more speed so i need to overclock my cpu. but as i've said i don't want to destroy my computer before i've even had a chance to switch it on for the first time(its in transit, order) so does anyone know the best way about this? |

Do you know where to start?
__________________EDIT: I can overclock mine wonderfully, but I'm running hot, so I'll be eager to see how yours runs. You should make a note of your stock, idle and load temperatures. Realtemp is the only program that reads Q9450/45nm CPU cores properly. hmonitor has a 14 day trial and that will read your tcase CPU temps (the CPU tmep that shows in your motherboards BIOS hardware monitor)

not exacticaly.
i'm just waiting for my motherboard to arrive so i havn't started building it yet. i have had a look at sites on overclocking but i would think it depends on what cpu on what board so i thought i should ask. that ultra cool fan i have is supposed to be a real beast for cooling so it chould be good. just need to find the appropriate site to show how to ovrclock my cpu and set it up with the board i have. i'll continue down the threads for information and i'll check into that realtemp thing tommorow when i have had some sleep(11 30pm) question: why do you use stock cooling? i'm under the impression that stock is just the normal fan it comes with. |

Hello,
I´m new at this forum and I was wondering: my cpu is overclocked to 3.4Ghz, my temps with 100% load (prime95) are 57, 54, 53, 53. Is that good? My BIOS settings are all Spread spectrum disabled, CPU core: 1,3625V (Cpu-Z: 1,288V with 100% load), every other voltages are set on auto, except for the RAM, unlinked. My RAM is set to 1,90V and 1600MHz (Cpu-Z reads 797MHz <--is that OK?) and CL 7-7-7-20. Are those right setting or should I change somethinks? Are the temps OK? Comp: q9450 + Noctua NH-U12P Evga nForce 790i Ultra SLI Corsair 1600 2x2Gb kit (Twin3X4096-1600C7DHX) Gtx 280 OC Thank you for your answers, and sorry for bad english I´m from Slovenia. |
