Quad core Vs Dual Core
I have about $400 dollars and I'm looking to buy a new processor and new ram. I have been looking at the E8400, Q6600 and the Q6700. For the ram I was looking at:

right now dual cores are better because of how easy they overclock. But in the same breath you could get a quad for future proofing and just overclock that. So yeah get the quad.

Aye, I suggest the quad also. I'm happy with mine, and it runs my games fine.

a dual core is better for gamming than a quad core. but if you want to do say game and fold at the same time a quad would be a better choice.

If your gaming get an e8400. They are easier to overclock at higher speeds and many people are able to hit 4.0ghz easily. By the time quads are standard in games there should be better quadcores out.

Ok thanks. I am probably going to go for quad then. What model should I get? Q6700 has a X10 multiplier and a faster stock speed, or should I go for Q6600?

I would go for quad there the same price.The quad o/c's just about as good as e8400 if you have a good rig,imo

I'd say quad. It will save you money in the long run as more games will be coded for quads
